Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N Review

Designed to quickly and efficiently heat any size pool in an environmentally-friendly fashion, the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N 400,000 BTU Pool Heater features two-inch universal unions and offset plumbing for direct connections, an improved header for increased circulation and efficiency, modern hot surface ignition system to kiss pilot lights goodbye, and a fan-assisted combustion to keep everything running smoothly year after year.

If that weren’t enough, it also features a super-efficient C-Fin heat exchanger for a lower electric bill and a modern, easy-to-use digital control panel that allows you to regulate the water temperature of your pool and/or spa with just a touch of a button.

Best of all, however, and something that sets this Jandy apart from other 400,000 BTU pool heaters out there, is its built-in one-touch automation feature. With this convenient feature, you can effortlessly switch from pool to spa mode and perfectly control the water temperatures of each. The backlit digital control panel of the heater even has a Maintain Temp Function in addition to other neat features that make it stand out from the crowd.

How to Install It

Unlike older, bulkier pool heaters, the state-of-the-art Zodiac Jandy features a compact and lightweight design, making the installation process relatively easy. Due to its small footprint, it can be installed on a small equipment pad by anyone who knows the difference between a torque wrench and a power drill. That being said, due to the need for proper plumbing, electrical, and gas hookups, it’s a wise idea to spend $200 more for a professional installation.

Where It Can Be Installed

Thanks to its smaller size, the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N can be installed on almost any equipment pad to efficiently heat any pool or spa. However, like most pool heaters, it performs best in lower altitudes. Therefore, if you live 2,000 feet or more above sea level, you should contact the company directly to find out more about ideal running conditions for this heater or find a specialized high-altitude model.

How to Use It

The backlit digital display and intuitive control panel of the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N make it incredibly easy to use, especially if you’re used to outdated pool pumps and heaters with rows of knobs, buttons, and so on. With only three simple buttons to press, you can turn it on, adjust your pool’s water temperature, and automate its functions.

Owning and Operating the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N

It may not look like much, but the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N proves that looks can be deceiving. Regardless of whether you need a new heater for your spa or finally want to enjoy your pool throughout the entire year and not just the summer months, this versatile pool heater gets the job done. With a press or two of a button, you can get your spa boiling hot and warm your pool in record time.

Bottom Line

It’s no fun owning a pool if it’s ice cold half of the year. Whether you’re looking to replace a spa heater or finally warm up your pool so you can enjoy it year round, the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N 400,000 BTU Pool Heater has a laundry list of features that make it one of the best pool heaters on the block.

With a compact size, automation-ready design, and all of the bells and whistles you would expect to find in a top-flight pool heater, the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N makes an excellent addition to any backyard oasis.

Digital Control Panel – Rich in features, the backlit control panel and display of the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N makes it as easy to use as any pool heater on the market today.

What We Like

Whether you moved into a home with a pre-existing pool or shelled out $40,000 to transform your boring desert of a backyard into a tropical oasis, you deserve a heated pool you can enjoy on a cool spring night or brisk fall day. You deserve the Zodiac Jandy LXi 400N.

Designed to meet or exceed your needs and expectations, it has a laundry list of features that make it one of the best 400,000 BTU pool heaters on the market today. With low NOx emissions, built-in freeze protection, and an automation-ready design, it’s a reliable, energy-friendly, and technologically advanced pool heating solution. Simply put, it rocks.

From its superior hydraulic design and strong yet lightweight construction to its advanced automation capabilities, the pool heater is tough to beat.

The Limitations

While the pros of this pool heater far outweigh its cons, there are still one or two aspects of its design that could use a little improvement. For instance, although it's smaller and more lightweight than similar heaters with the same BTU output, its boxy, rectangular design and drab grey color certainly don’t make it one of the best looking pool heaters out there.

While this is simply an opinion based on personal preference, the Zodiac Jandy LXi LXI400N could look a little more modern. Then again, it’s only a pool heater, which most people conceal anyways, so you can take this gripe with a grain of salt. Otherwise, it performs with the best of them.
